The Nandankanan Zoological Park or Nandankanan Zoo, a popular Orissa wildlife sanctuary, is located around 17 km from Cuttack and 2 km from the railway station of Barang. This Lion Safari Nandankanan Bhubaneswar offers a high level of thrill which you just thought of till date. Nandankanan Wild Zoo in Orissa is an abode to many species of wild animals including crocodiles, blackbucks, storks, ratels, pangolins, small Indian civets, mouse deer, chousinghas, sambars, hill mynas, panthers and brahminy kites, among others.

Nandankanan Zoo is a home to the popular Asiatic Lion and gorgeous White Tigers. Apart from these, you can spot here several other wild animals including Lion-tailed Macaque, Nilgiri Langur, Indian Pangolin and Mouse Deer, Himalayan Black Bear, Rhesus Macaque and Black Buck, among others.

The national park also houses around 80 species of birds including some rare birds such as White Peacock, Open-billed Stork, Blue & Yellow Macaw and Green-winged Macaw, and an aviary for the aquatic birds, among others.

The separate Reptile Park of the sanctuary is an abode to a host of crocodiles, lizards, turtles and snakes, including three species of Indian Crocodiles. A life sized Tyrannosaurus Rex stands as a guard on the gates of this park, which is very popular amongst kids.

You can visit the sanctuary’s Botanical Garden, located over the Kanjia Lake, via the ropeway from the zoo to see the rarest species of plants.
