Orissa Travel Tips

• Bring your driving license with photo for identification.
• Avoid drinking water from an unknown source in Orissa. Ask for sealed mineral water.
• Take only authorized taxis and buses. Don't accept an offer to share a taxi from unknown unless you know the individual.
• Choose guest houses / hotels which are registered with the Department of Tourism in India, Orissa.
• Do not encourage beggars.
• Do not purchase goods made from endangered or rare species or protected animals.
• Wash fruits before eating them.
• Apart from necessary medicines, carry sunglasses, sunscreen lotions and a hat.
• Before visiting a wildlife sanctuary, take prior permission from the concerned authority of the sanctuary.
• Take prior permissions before photographing any prohibited property, especially railways, airports etc.
• Do not make noise around the wildlife sanctuary.
• Do not spread non-biodegradable litter around wildlife sanctuary.
• Remember some of the important phone numbers such as Police control room 100, Fire station 101, Ambulance 101.
• Kindly ensure that al the local customs are strictly adhered to while visiting a holy place or shrine.
