With a wide array of wild animals and plants, the
wildlife of Orissa can really enchant a nature lover. Under the eco
tourism drive of the state government, it has now become possible for
the tourists to observe the Orissa Wildlife more closely. Stay
arrangements have been made in some of the famous national parks and
sanctuaries of Orissa.
There is a forest rest house at the Similipal National Park which can
be accommodated with a prior permission of the Field Director of Project
Tiger based at Baripada. There also is a stone lodge named Aranya Niwas
Tourist Lodge at Lulung around 10 kms from the entry point of the park
that offers good facilities for a comfortable stay.
Some comfortable rest houses are located at Dangmal, Ekabula and Gupti
near the Bhitarkanika Sanctuary also. There are plenty of lodges and
forest rest houses in and around the most famous Nandankanan Sanctuary
and Biological Park at Orissa. The Director of the Biological Park may
also allow the tourists to stay at his official abode upon his
discretion.
The Forest Lodge at the Chilika Sanctuary can be accommodated
with a prior permission of the Divisional Forest Officer of the
sanctuary. To stay at any of the following Satkosia Gorge Wildlife
Sanctuary, Ushakothi Sanctuary or the Balukhand Sanctuary, it is
necessary to obtain an official permission of their individual forest
officers.
