The Simlipal National Park houses a total of three India's biggest animal species –Tiger, Asian Elephant and Gaur. The national park has been named after the semul or red silk cotton trees that blossom here in various varieties. Spread over an area of 2,750 sq km, the national park is lying 559.31 meters above the sea level, being located very centre of Mayurbhanj, the northernmost district of the state of Odisha (Orissa).
Helped by the variations in topography, favorable climate and vivid vegetation, a large species of animals, birds and reptiles bloom in one of the oldest and finest of the total 15 tiger reserves in India, falling under the Project Tiger.
You can make a visit to the national park from mid October to mid June, when it remains open in the entire year.
